Racially Oppressed Whites.... Say Word....

This article asks an absurd yet, profound question: Are white people racially oppressed in America? Some groups are actually claiming that white people are a minority. Or are on their way to becoming a minority instead of holding on to majority status, which is completely false. According to the artical provided courtesy of CNN: U.S. Census Bureau projections that whites will become a minority by 2050 are fueling fears that whiteness no longer represents the norm. This fear has been compounded by the recent recession, which hit whites hard. These stories are completely misleading, below are the projections of the U.S. population directly from the U.S. Census Bureau website. Maybe I am reading the chart wrong, but I fail to see where white people will ever reliquish majority status in the U.S. So, I wonder what is really the reason for throwing out misinformation to the masses of people? The article also states that: Mass rallies in Washington, voter intimidation at the polls, creating ethnic studies programs at colleges to promote racial self-awareness -- it sounds like a script from a civil rights documentary. It sounds more like they are creating prerequisites for a race war.....

  1. Finally, someone standing up for my people!

Seriously though, I think the issue people seem to be having is that in some predictions the "white" population will fall below 50% in 2050. Even if that's the case, that means ALL people of color COMBINED would be more than 50%, but that's not what a majority is. This is just another way for the power structure to stay in place keeping poor/working middle class white's afraid and blaming "minorities" for their problems instead of seeing what's really going on.

  2. Exactly the case Davy. There is a lot of fear-mongering going on, and the American populace are feeding into it. You made a great point, the population being 50% white and 50% people of color is not what a majority is. By they're standards of majority and minority, it's broken down ethnicity by ethnicity. White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, American Indian... But now they wanna lump all people of color into one category. It's fear-mongering at its finest Davy...

  3. Post got me thinking..I'm from Southern California, Santa Ana to be specific. And, LOTS of family members who live in the area go on and on about this "we'll be the minority and we already are around here" sort of stuff. Kind of a shame, but people do see things differently if the subject is discussed in a rational way. I've had family members completely change their views and start watching Michael Moore, etc. after talking to them. Of course this was when I was in college and majoring in Sociology and could get ALMOST articulate as you. Keep up the blog, great stuff!
